Michigan History- We will keep moving through chapter 4 “Michigan Territory and Statehood.  This week we will be talking about how changes on the frontier help bring Michigan closer to becoming a state.

Science-  We finished chapter 12 “Forces in Motion” last week.  We will be completing an open book quiz over this chapter on Wednesday.  We will then move on to chapter 13 “Energy”.

Spelling- No spelling this week.  With no school on Monday and the field trip on Thursday, it will make it hard to fit it in.

English- We will be discussing adverbs this week.

Writing- We will be writing some fun color poems.

Reading- This week will be spent reviewing skills taught over the previous months.  Cause and Effect and Summarizing will be the main focus.  I have also starting doing running records on each student.  This will be going in their file and passed on to next year’s teacher.

Field Trip: A note (on cream paper) is coming home on Tuesday.  This will give you all the information you need to get your child ready for Thursday.  I have also gone over the note with the class today.  If you are chaperoning please take an extra close look at it.  I have attached a short note which indicates if you are riding the bus or driving.  If you find the information is incorrect please contact me ASAP.

Fun to Be Fit Day:  This will begin at approximately 1:00 PM on Friday, June 1st.  I will be handing out shirts to the students who ordered them that day.  You are also encouraged to attend.  The more parents we have the better the event will be.  I am also in need of a few parents to be up at the track during the race.  Help is needed directing the class to the right area.

Field Day:  This will take place in the afternoon on June 8th.  The classes will only be participating in games this year.  No relays or ribbons.  Also if it rains that day no make-up day is scheduled.
